WGA ACTORS FUND RAFFLE
Posted by Jess on  December 17 2007 //

Traci sent this in:

Hi!
The folks over at Your Tax Dollars at Work have put together a little raffle to help raise money for the WGA actors fund (it helps the writers and such that are out of work due to the strike).

A member there met with David Rambo and he signed several items that will go up for a raffle of sorts that will benefit the WGA Actors Fund (that helps members that are currently out of work due to the strike - the people that are in the middle, living paycheck to paycheck).  Marg Helgenberger also donated a hat that she signed with George Eads.  That is the item that I thought folks would be interested in.  Each dollar that is donated gets you one "entry" into the raffle.   You may put all of your chances for one item if you would like.

I have posted a link to the google doc if you would like to see more info.

GEORGE ON TV GUIDE COVER!
Posted by Jess on  December 7 2007 //

Dozens of demonstrators are marching outside the gates of Universal Studios clutching red-and-black Writers Guild of America on Strike signs on a mid-November morning. Inside Stage 22, the cast and crew of CBS' CSI are only slightly less solemn as they shoot their last episode before going on an indefinite break. No more scripts means no more work means an uneasy time for everyone, which perhaps explains why Gary Dourdan is in his trailer brewing a soothing pot of herbal tea.

When George Eads arrives, he's still wearing the uniform of his earnest crime-scene-sleuth character, Nick Stokes: a black police-department-issue vest, and a prop gun holstered at his side. Dourdan, his famous blue-green eyes obscured by a pair of Ray-Ban aviators, greets his costar warmly and hands him a mug of tea. It quickly becomes obvious that, over the course of acting together for seven years on one of TV's biggest hits, the two have become partners in crime off screen as well. "Both of us single in Buenos Aires was interesting," Eads remembers with a laugh of a trip they took early in the drama's run. "People wanted to party with us, man. And we didn't say no!"

In the Dec. 6 episode, directed by Oscar-winner William Friedkin (The French Connection), it's Nick who confronts Dourdan's Warrick Brown when he sees his colleague's personal life spinning out of control with booze, pills and strippers — a storyline that continues on Dec. 13. "Gary approaches his work in a way that I like to as well, like a jazz musician," Friedkin says. "There's a set line, but then there's a lot of improvisation. He was very inventive on the set. He actually amazed me."

Back in Dourdan's trailer, the actors settle into side-by-side rocking chairs with their tea for a spirited conversation with TV Guide that spanned their friendship, Matthew McConaughey, overzealous paparazzi and their post-CSI plans.

TV Guide: Why do you think you've become such good buds?
George Eads:
Gary and I understand each other. He's such an individual, and he thinks for himself. I'm the same way.
Gary Dourdan: We keep each other in check. Sometimes I'll come in late [to work] and he'll be like, "Gary, get your s--t together." And sometimes, George gets the diva thing going on, and I have to bring him back down to earth and go, "Come on, man, chill out."

TV Guide: Wait — George, you're the set diva?
Eads: I can be fairly intense. [Laughs] I have a responsibility to hold up the integrity of my character, and that's something that I'll fight for every time. But everybody knows when Gary pulls me off the set, he can talk sense into me.
Dourdan: Likewise. There's a respect and love. There's no bulls--t between us.
Eads: Yeah, it's good, healthy man love! We've got each other's back. I don't wanna borrow money from him or sleep with him, so he's safe with me. [Laughs]

TV Guide: How often do you hang out together?
Dourdan: We used to a lot, but then I got a girlfriend. Then he got a girlfriend. [Dourdan is now single.] And when you get a girlfriend, your boys take second place.
Eads: Yeah, you don't have a tendency to stay out late drinking. But I'm very happy in my relationship. It's been almost three years now.
Dourdan: Which is amazing for him. He was quite the playboy. [Eads laughs.]

TV Guide: You both have your share of female fans. How do you feel about the "sex symbol" label?
Dourdan: George is not — what's that actor's name who walks around with his shirt off? From Texas?
Eads: McConaughey.
Dourdan: Yeah, George is not Matthew McConaughey: Sara [played by Jorja Fox] left. He doesn't feel like he has a connection to anything anymore. It was important for us to show him unraveling.
